the adventures of Kathleen McHu, chapter 4

CHAPTER 4

I have decided to travel by night and sleep in hiding by day. Last night I found a large chunk of jade worth at least 20 pennies which will buy at least 10 pieces of fish. I am very happy about that because even after 2 days I am losing food and water fast. I think that I will have to eat and drink less. As soon as I get to a market I will buy more food and water, I will also buy some new clothes because mine are ripping.

I am about to leave. I think that my whole family is asleep which is a good thing because they would make me stay here, but I can't so I have waited for them to be asleep so that I can go without them knowing. I think it is about 12pm and I think I will leave now so I have to write more later. I will probably write more tomorrow.

I wrote this note to tell my parents where I am:

I am going in search of a magical snake and won't be gone long so don't worry I'll be careful.

chapter two

today is the day I leave in search of the snake of wonder. I think I will leave just after dark so no one will see me. I will not bring any ale because we are out. I will just bring three jugs of water. I will write more later.

Today I went with my family to the fair and paid one penny for my fortune. Old maggie-the fortune teller-said I was to go in search of a magical snake. I am deathy afraid of snakes but if I am meant to do it I must. Old maggie also said that I must pack food and drink because there will be little along the way I must also bring money to buy the food along the way. I have decided to leave in two days and I am going to bring two jugs of water and one jug of ale and a sack of pie and fish and some vegetables. I do not know why I am to go on this quest I am just a farmers daughter....

INTRODUCTION


Kathleen McHu was a very interesting young girl at the age of 15. She was in search of a magical snake that could do whatever you wanted it to. These storys are her adventures that she recorded in a diary. She has many interesting incounters that lead her to a great surprise.

Today I an going to the park. I like the swing set. Once I was swinging so high that I was touching a tree with my toe. It is fun to go to the park and play with your friends.

SAND

Soft
And squishy
Not hard
Dry or wet


I love sand. Sometimes it is cool and other times it is warm. It is normally at the beach but now they have this stuff that is kind of like sand but it feels more like Styrofoam. I don't like it because my sister has some and it gets stuck in the molds.

I went to the beach yesterday with our friends from Tennessee that came to visit us. It was a great day. We swam in the ocean. For dinner we went to a restaurant called the Hurricane. It was very fun.

If you ever ask me what my favorite subject I would say "science". why? because I want to be a surgeon. I do not like math even though I am good at it witch is a bad thing since I also want to be an astronaut............

blues fest

yesterday I went to the blues fest. I got the signatures of Koko Taylor, Lil' Ed, watermelon slim, and E.G. Kight. In the morning we saw the E.G. Kight and the watermelon slim shows it was really hot outside so after that we went to get some lunch and take a dip in my grandmother's pool it felt great. Then my dad and my sister went home and me and my mom went back to the blues fest to see Lil' Ed and Koko Taylor. It was really awesome. It was after 8 o' clock before we left. We ate dinner at a Thai restaurant and then we went home. We were really tired so as soon as we got home we went to bed.
